Privacy Policy

My principle is that I generally want to collect as little data as possible from my users. Especially no personal data.

Non-personal data

The logbook app transmits data to my web server via the Internet when the following actions are performed:
  1. Weather query
  2. Geocoding
  3. Auto recording of positions for sharing via the Internet (if activated by the user)
  4. First time opening the app
In addition to the IP address, the location and the language setting are also visible to me on the web server. However, I only store the language and location without the IP address, i.e., completely anonymously. This is so that I can offer the optional live tracking feature and evaluate in which regions I need to further expand geocoding. This means that I do not store any personal data in connection with these two actions. Regardless of this, I never pass on location data to third parties. With live tracking, the creator decides for themselves who they pass on the link to the data to.

Data with possible personal reference

The logbook app transmits data to my web server via the internet for the following actions:
  1. In app support (if initiated by the user)
Here, the device type, iOS version, app version, and the transmitted request (text entered by the user) are stored in order to be able to provide a suitable support response. I never pass this data on to third parties, but I also have no personal reference as long as the user does not voluntarily provide their name or other personal data.

Data with possible personal references to third parties

The logbook app transfers data to my web server via the Internet when the following actions are performed:
  1. AI daily summary (only if initiated by the user)
Here, a summary of the day in question, including position data from the entries for that day, as well as the texts and weather data stored therein, is transmitted to a so-called 'Large Language Model' from OpenAI. This data is therefore subject to OpenAI's privacy policy for the EU (since the request to the OpenAI API is always made from my server in the EU). https://openai.com/policies/eu-privacy-policy/

Logbook sync service

Optionally, you can synchronize your logbook across multiple devices in the app. In this case, the entire logbook, including any images in log entries, is stored on my web server. I never pass this data on to third parties! In this case, the data is only linked to an email address that you must provide when you first upload the logbook. However, this email address does not have to be your real email address. Please note that if you want support for data stored on my server, I will only provide support if you have access to the email account you provided. I do not store any personal data here either.

Translations

I have written this privacy policy in German. All other languages may contain inaccuracies in the translation that I cannot check, so only the German version is binding.
